This Week’s Message from Touching Lives with James Merritt

James Merritt - January 21, 2018

From Good to Great

When we do the right thing and are treated poorly, our flesh screams and wants what we believe we deserve. We’re born this way. Just observe children as one cries out when another takes away a toy. God knows this, and Jesus taught us how He wants us to respond. He said that when we find ourselves in this position that we should rejoice, because our reward is great in Heaven.

From Series: "Yes But..."

It's a word that can change everything. It paints a contrast between the world's path and God's ideal. It one way that God lets us know how He makes a way, when there seems to be no way. So much hope, encouragement and inspiration wrapped up in a simple, thee-letter word: but. Join Pastor Merritt as we open Scripture to look at four exceptional verses. Exceptional because the word but changes everything. Through this teaching series you'll learn how God turns harm into good, death to life, our dreams to His plans, and our fear into faith. Yes, But will be four practical sermons that you will not want to miss.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19-20 I once read a story about a man named […]

“I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” Psalm 119:11 Many of you may already know that I am an avid golfer. I love to play and have enjoyed playing with some excellent golfers over the years. Do you know what I have learned every time I play with […]

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 Have you ever heard of the “sixth sense?”  The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as: A power of perception like – but not one of – the five senses; a keen intuitive power. Some people take the idea of a “sixth […]

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” Matthew 4:1 It is incredible to see how Jesus’ ministry was introduced to the world. It would seem fitting for His ministry to kick off with a big splash. If Hollywood had done it, Jesus would have come in sitting […]
