This Week’s Message from Touching Lives with James Merritt

James Merritt - November 12, 2017

Sin Sick

When the dirt of sin clogs up God’s communication line, you will not hear Him the way you should or see Him the way you should or enjoy Him the way you should until things are made right. Why? At sin’s deepest level, it is only God that can redeem you and restore you. If you sin against me, I can remove my bitterness, but I can’t remove your guilt. God can do that. He always will, and He always does through Jesus Christ.

From Series: "Playlist"

Psalms are the songs of the Bible. They teach us about the nature and character of God, and how He gives answers throughout the challenges of life. In this teaching series, Pastor Merritt examines a "playlist" of four psalms, each with a specific message for our lives today.

Sermon Singles (Messages Not Part of a Sermon Series)

James Merritt - August 6, 2017

Eternal Echo

Acts 20:17-24: If you were asked the question, “Who has had the greatest impact on your life?”, what would you say? Don’t consider the people you read about or watch from a distance, but those who know you personally. What do they all have in common? Perhaps it was a grandparent, a teacher, or a coach. But chances are, if they made a permanent mark on your life, it’s because they poured themselves into you in some way. Learn to make your mark by serving others, when you order your copy of Eternal Echo today.

Sermon Singles contain some of Dr. Merritt's best preaching that is not part of a series of messages. Sermon Singles are designed to be "stand-alone" sermons as they speak to a particular topic. Some of Dr. Merritt's best preaching can be found right here in his Sermon Singles

“Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight; so You are right in Your verdict and justified when You judge.” Psalm 51:4 If there is anything that should motivate all of us who know God, love God, and worship God to avoid sin it should be Psalm 51:4. Even […]

“Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones You have crushed rejoice.” Psalm 51:8 I do not think you could find anyone in the Bible, other than Jesus, who loved God more than King David loved God. Their relationship was unique. God Himself, in fact, referred to David as, “a man after His own heart” […]

“For I know my transgressions and my sin is always before me.” Psalm 51:3 When I was a small boy, a lady named Mrs. Gunter used to keep me every Saturday while my mother worked. Mrs. Gunter’s son, Scotty, had a hat that I particularly admired and wanted. One day, I packed that hat with some […]

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love; according to Your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.” Psalm 51:1-2 When King David wrote Psalm 51, it was right after his sin of adultery had been exposed. The King had gone to great […]

“Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” Psalm 51:5 There are sicknesses and then there are sicknesses. Doctors were recently asked their opinion of the most terrifying, horrifying sicknesses in history. These were their top three. The first is what is called the “Black Death,” or now known as […]

“May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14 Jim Irwin was one of the astronauts who went to the moon. After he got back, he said this, “When I looked out and saw the earth, about as big as […]
