Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord.
1 Corinthians 12:4-5 (ESV)
You have been given specific strengths, by God, that are unique to you. And using your spiritual gifts is essential to living with purpose and feeling fulfilled in life.
Today’s verse explains that every spiritual gift you have has been given to you by the Holy Spirit. So, my question to you today is, “Are you using the gifts that have been entrusted to you?”.
What good is an unopened gift? No matter how much the giver spends, how much time it takes him to select the gift, or how beautifully she wraps it up, it is all wasted time, money and effort if the gift remains unopened.
And what if the recipient opens the gift, but puts it on a shelf and never uses it? In both cases, the recipient of the gift has squandered the generosity of the giver. The same is true of spiritual gifts.
You might be wondering what exactly a spiritual gift is? And how can you know the gifts you, specifically, have been given?
If you are a believer and are not a member of a local church, find a church to commit to and serve. This is one of the best ways to start discovering the spiritual strengths you have been given.
The Holy Spirit has prepared gifts which the community needs and only you can open.
And there is nothing more rewarding than serving others in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Jesus, Thank You for the gifts You have given me through Your Spirit. I know that You have saved me to be a strong link in the chain of Your people. Help me to wisely use the gifts You have given me for Your glory. In Your name I pray, Amen.
