“Surely You have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of Your presence.”
Psalm 21:6 (NIV)
What if you could rest in God’s goodness every day of your life?
You might find it easy to trust in the goodness of God when His ways feel good. But what about the other days, when you find it difficult? Today’s verse declares that you can receive unending blessings and gladness–even on your worst day.
In Psalm 21:6, God's Word says that in God’s presence, you will be made glad by Him. You don’t need to try to be joyful or produce happiness. God gives you joy in His presence.
Today’s verse also suggests He is ready to grant His children bountiful and unending blessings. And guess where those come from? From Him. The blessings you hope for and the gladness you long for, are found in His presence.
When you are in His presence, you no longer want what is easy. You simply want the eternal. You begin to see that His ways are higher than your ways. And this perspective changes everything.
What perspective do you need right now? Rest? Confidence that God is working everything together for your good? Peace in your relationships? When you open God’s Word in God’s presence, you receive eternal perspective as He meets your needs.
In His presence, you rise above your circumstances and see His big picture. Ask the Holy Spirit to open Your eyes, seeing the temporary nature of your trials. Then you can endure because you’ll see the benefits of the end result–you becoming more like God’s Son.
So how can you gain this eternal perspective? One way is through the practice of enjoying God’s presence. The more time you spend intentionally seeking God, the more time He can make you glad in His presence. And when you learn to find joy in His presence, you are well on your way to living the abundant life that God desires for you.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You that I don’t need to look for joy in the circumstances of life. Even in the “happiest season of all” I know that true joy is found only in You, Lord, for You are the source of gladness and joy. Here in your presence, I welcome Your work. Make me glad. I praise You for giving me unending blessings and a heart of joy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
