“‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 (NIV)
Chronic pain plagues 11% of Americans, while another 40 million face severe pain periodically. But statistics don't capture the reality we all know too well–pain, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, is universal.
Perhaps it’s wounds from relationships, disappointment from poor habits and decisions, regret from your past, or even the effects of your genetics. Pain–in some form–is a constant companion.
But God makes you a promise in Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…” In other words, your tears and affliction matter to God–and He will heal and remove the source of your pain.
Can you even imagine a place with no pain, no death, and no tears? In this place, you won’t fear death because death is gone. You won’t fear loneliness. Your body will have no pain, and every relationship will have Christ at its center.
This isn’t just imagination, it’s God’s promise.
The Apostle John wrote Revelation, the Bible's final book. Its full title, 'The Revelation of Jesus Christ,’ tells you something important: this book reveals not just future events, but Jesus Himself. (See Revelation 1:1)
John shows us two things: what heaven will be like, and how Jesus gives us a glimpse of heaven today.
You can experience real hope in the midst of pain. Jesus sees your pain now, creates something beautiful, and promises ultimately to remove it forever. Through Jesus, you can experience a taste of heaven’s comfort right now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your comfort here on earth. And I praise You for the promise of heaven. Thank you that one day, I will no longer suffer pain. Help me when I am in pain to remember Your promise, to understand that pain is temporary, and give me the strength to endure, until the day You choose to let me be in a place where there is pain no more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
