Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
You are created to live in the freedom of the Holy Spirit.
I may have two left feet, but that doesn’t seem to matter when I hear the song “Shackles” by Mary, Mary. I hear that chorus telling you to take the shackles off my feet so I can dance, and I start to move.
When you realize that freedom is what you’re made for, you just want to praise Him.
Today’s verse teaches that the Holy Spirit is the Lord who brings freedom to your life. The first part of the verse tells you He is “the Lord”, meaning the Holy Spirit has authority over all evil and over every chain in your life. Any temptation and all the power of sin bow before His power.
The second part of this verse declares that where the Spirit of the Lord is, enslavement is not.
When you surrender your life to Jesus in faith, the Holy Spirit begins to dwell inside you. And where the Spirit of the Lord is and reigns, there is freedom.
Galatians 5:1 says,“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Christ has done the work of setting you free from sin and all the power of the enemy. Now you can stand firm, and through the power of His Holy Spirit, never be enslaved again.
No matter what shackles may be trying to hold you back today, the good news is this: Jesus does not reject you; He is ready to release you, renew you, revive you, and restore you right now. And He has given you His Spirit to break free from all chains of guilt, shame, and condemnation.
If you are in Christ, the enemy of your soul is powerless to enslave you any longer. And if you have any shackles hanging around, your good Father is ready to release and restore you. By the power of the Holy Spirit, get those feet moving because freedom is yours.
Prayer: Father, Thank You for freeing me not only from sin’s penalty, but also from sin’s power each and every day. Please show me any areas of my life where shackles linger. Through the truth of Your Word and the power of Your Spirit, help me drop those chains and walk in the freedom you purchased for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
