“He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from Me what He will make known to you.” John 16:14-15
Do you know what the Holy Spirit really wants to do both for believers and unbelievers? He doesn’t want to guide us just so we know facts. He doesn’t want to guide us just to know theology. He doesn’t want to guide us just to know even the Bible. He wants to guide us to know Jesus – to love Jesus, to serve Jesus, and to glorify Jesus.
Do you know how you can know the Spirit of God is guiding you? He will always lead you to do that which glorifies Jesus. What does that mean, to glorify Jesus? It means to make much of Him…to show others who His is and what He is like. If you are an unbeliever there is nothing you can do to glorify Jesus more than to give your life to Him. If you are a believer, there is nothing greater you can do with your life to glorify Jesus than to share Him with those who need Him.
It is amazing to realize that in a river lays the incredible power called “electricity.” We have learned how to harness that power by damning rivers up. Through the genius of engineers we have the ability to store electricity that can send thousands of volts of power all around the country. However, there is a problem. If those volts were sent in their own power they would immediately burn everything to a crisp. That is why engineers have built transformers, which break down this electricity into meaningful units of power so that you and I can seek that power and share that power.
The Holy Spirit is God’s transformer. He takes the truth of God and in the right place, at the right time, and in the right way, gives it to us. The Spirit gives God’s truth in such a way that not only can we seek it and see it, but we can use the truth of the Gospel so that we can be saved from our sins.
Dear Lord, our world needs your truth and your Word now more than ever before. Help me to be someone who shares your truth with others. Give me courage, boldness, and compassion as I point others to the hope that is only found in you. In Jesus' name, amen.
