“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...” - Psalm 139:14
Yesterday, we began talking about how many people struggle with doubting if God really does exist. Thankfully, there are ways we can find evidence of God’s existence, and it starts with looking all around us. We’ve already talked about how looking at the physical world points to God’s existence, but there’s so much more evidence than just the physical world. So today, let’s dive into two more ways we can combat our doubts about God’s existence with the truth.
The second way we can see God’s existence is by looking at the biological world. One of the greatest pieces of evidence that God exists is what you see in the mirror every day. In another Psalm David wrote, Psalm 139, is a statement about his body that is true of every human body. He said, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...” (Psalm 139:14).
Our bodies are absolutely amazing. It’s mind-blowing how they function and how they were created. And when we take the time to bask in the amazingness that is the human body, we are pointed back to the existence of our God.
Finally, the third way we can see God’s existence is by looking at the moral world. If there is no universal objective standard of goodness and right, morality becomes a matter of personal opinion. Where does goodness even come from?
At the end of the day morality is completely dependent upon an objective standard of what is right and wrong and only a God who is objectively good and supreme can give that objective standard. No government can do it, no dictator can do it, no panel can do it, and no politician can do it. A perfectly good God can give a perfectly good standard by which all goodness and evil are to be measured.
Dear Lord, thank you for giving us ways to see evidence of you all around us. Help me to look at these different aspects of the world when I’m feeling doubtful. In Jesus’ name, amen.
