“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation.’” - Mark 16:15
Every follower of Jesus Christ has been given the same mission: To reach out to the lost with the Gospel. This mission will be lived out differently in each of our lives, but the mission is the same – proclaim the Gospel in both word and deed. Whether you’re a student, a parent, a career missionary or a professional athlete, God has invited you to reach others with the Gospel.
This mission should be the driving force of all that we do. Every decision, relationship, opportunity and setback should be considered through this perspective: “What opportunity does this give me to magnify Christ and share His message?” The first time Jesus spoke the words, “Follow Me,” He said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” This clearly illustrates that Christ multiplies His ministry through His followers.
To the fishermen 2,000 years ago, He said He would make them “fishers of men.” This was language that they understood. He was telling them that He was going to show them how to reach the lost right where they lived and worked. To a doctor He might say, “Follow Me, and I will make you a healer of souls.” To a carpenter He invites, “Follow Me, and I will make you a builder of men.” To a farmer, “I will make you a planter of the Gospel.” Wherever we are, whatever we are already doing, He can use for His glory and the advancement of the Gospel.
Holy Father, Open my eyes and heart to the opportunities You have already placed all around me to share the Gospel. May my gifts and abilities be used for Your glory.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
