“May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
Psalm 19:14 (NIV)
You can come into the presence of the God of the universe and be pleasing to Him, and accepted by Him, because of your Rock and our Redeemer. Do you know who the “Rock” and “Redeemer” are in this passage? Jesus. Jesus is the Rock of Ages. By dying on the cross, Jesus became the Redeemer of the human race.
God speaks in many ways. He speaks through the heavens, through the Scriptures, and in the soul. But He saved His best word for last when He speaks through Jesus. In Jesus, you discover all of God you can know, and in Jesus you have all of God you need.
Take a moment to think about the ways God reveals Himself to you. You see the glory of God in the skies, the guidance of God in the Scriptures, the goodness of God in the soul, and you see the grace of God in the Savior.
Jim Irwin is one of the astronauts who traveled to the moon. After he returned, he said this,“When I looked out and saw the earth, about as big as a little marble, I thought, ‘How big am I? I am just a speck of dust–if that big–compared to the universe. Yet this little speck has the capacity to know God!’”
Because of the Savior’s grace, you have the capacity to know and be loved by the One who holds the universe. When you realize that God loves that little blue marble of a planet, and cherishes you right upon it, you will realize that your relationship with Jesus is the most precious thing you have.
Whether you are on earth looking up at the moon or on the moon looking back on earth, your gracious Savior is here, there, and everywhere, and you can find Him ready to meet you anytime.
Prayer: God, thank You for revealing your grace to me in many ways—in creation, in Scripture and also in the person of Jesus. May the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
