Endless Possibilities

January 15, 2025

“But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”
Matthew 19:26 (NIV)

Every tree must grow from the root out of which it springs. The largest, oldest oak in the forest still grows from that first, foundational root that gave it life. The same is true about you.

Your life in Christ is rooted in the root that is Jesus Christ. You grow from His power. That means your life is a continual display of the glorious power of God.

Your life displays the endless possibilities of God’s power and grace. What you cannot do apart from God, you can do through the power of God.

With God, you can forgive.
With God, you can be free from that besetting sin.
With God, you can see a breakthrough instead of a breakdown.
With God, you can put the needs of others before your own.
With God, that which was impossible becomes a reality.

If you feel like you are struggling in your spiritual life, or circumstances seem impossible, remember today’s verse. Jesus says, “All things are possible.” He does not say, “All things are definite,” or, “All things are a given.” That’s because He gives you an important part to play: Your part is to completely surrender to God’s work in your life.

So often, however, we want to make our own plans and then ask God to bless our efforts. But the endless possibilities of God’s power are unleashed through surrender…the giving up of your own plans to God.

C.S. Lewis says it this way, “For most of us the prayer in Gethsemane is the only model. Removing mountains can wait.” Let this be your prayer model today: “Lord, not my will but Yours.” God’s full power will be unleashed in your life. Just as it was released in Jesus’ life in the garden of Gethsemene, the night before He was to face the situation where He needed God’s power the most–the cross.

Remember the root from which your life in Christ springs–it springs from Christ Himself! You are not saved by your power, nor do you grow through your own efforts. Surrender to the endless possibilities of God’s power. And watch how you become a display of His glory.

Prayer: Father, Thank You for giving me hope in situations that seem impossible. I praise You that You are the God of the impossible! And thank You that Your power is released when I put my trust in You. Forgive me for the times I try to change myself. I surrender to You, Lord, and I pray that others would see Your glorious power on display as I fully trust You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
