"Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, 'Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?'"
Mark 16:2-3, (NIV)
Have you ever wanted to believe something with all your heart, but your mind just wouldn't cooperate?
When the women approached Jesus's tomb that first Easter morning, they weren't expecting a miracle—they were expecting a problem. "Who will roll the stone away?" Their question reveals their doubt. Even after Jesus repeatedly tells His disciples He would rise on the third day, resurrection isn’t on anyone's radar.
If you sometimes struggle with doubt, you're not alone. You're standing in the faithful company of Jesus's closest followers. But notice something important about these women—though they doubted, they remained devoted.
Their devotion positioned them to be the first witnesses of history's greatest miracle.
The same is true for you. Your doubts don't disqualify you from experiencing God's power. The women weren't looking for a king; they were looking for a corpse. But their willingness to show up, in the midst of doubt, positions them for new hope.
You aren’t at the tomb as a witness, but you’re at work, at home, at school–right where the resurrection continues. Today, you can position yourself to witness God’s resurrection power. Open Scripture with expectation. Approach prayer believing God hears. Serve others as though Jesus Himself receives your kindness.
This week, don't let your doubts keep you away from the tomb. Your devotion—showing up, serving, seeking—positions you to experience the power of resurrection in your everyday life. When you're faithful despite uncertainty, you become a front-row witness to God's miraculous work.
Prayer: Father, Thank You for accepting me even with my questions and doubts. Like those faithful women, help me remain devoted to You even when I don't understand everything. Position me to experience Your resurrection power in my daily life this week. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
