“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Matthew 6:26 (ESV)
Plunging to 35,876 feet at its deepest point, the Challenger Deep is the lowest point in the seabed of the ocean. It characterizes an ocean we cannot fully grasp or explore.
The depth of God’s love similarly stuns us. The Creator of time itself cares about every second of your life. He knows the stars by name, and keeps count of each hair donning the head of every human being.
Yet, somehow we still struggle to trust Him with the details of our lives.
In today’s passage, Jesus asks us to look around: Gaze at the plethora of flowers, birds, and butterflies. Ponder how sea turtles possess the innate ability to cross thousands of miles back to the same beach of their birth to lay eggs. Consider zebra stripes and the skyline of magnificent sunsets.
Everything in creation shouts that God can be trusted.
Look again: Our self-sustaining world of migrating birds, hibernating bears, recurrent seasons, and celestial bodies work harmoniously. And buckle your seatbelts because right now our planet orbits the sun at 67,000 miles per hour in a solar system speeding through the Milky Way at an average velocity of 140 miles per second.
Who did all of this? Who attends to such details?
He who sustains all things can be trusted with all things.
God knows what you need before you ask. In whatever chaos you may encounter today, choose to see the order of our Creator God. And may this vision drive you to trust Him more.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I praise You and thank You for Your created order. Evidence of Your Trustworthiness is everywhere, and today, I choose to see it all. Teach me to trust your unimaginable love and help me respond in all situations with order and peace. Because of Jesus’ name, Amen.
