“’…Peace to those on whom His favor rests.’”
Luke 2:14 (NIV)
One of the greatest gifts that this season brings is the favor of God.
A similar and more familiar word to the word “favor” is grace. At Christmas, you are given the two greatest gifts you could ever hope for – peace and grace. You receive peace with God because of the grace of God.
What could be greater than laying your head down at night knowing that you are at peace with God? I like how C.S. Lewis reminds us that, “Though your feelings come and go, God’s love for you does not.” That’s what peace with God means and that’s why peace with God means everything.
You are under the grace of God and His hand and favor rests on you. And this is not because of what you have done for Him, but because of what He has done for you through that baby born 2,000 years ago.
Have you ever seen one of those car dealership commercials that says, “Anyone can buy a car here!”? If you look closely there is an asterisk next to that statement at the bottom of the screen. That asterisk has three letters beside it, “W.A.C.” Do you know what W.A.C. stands for? “With Approved Credit”!
In other words, you must meet the qualifications, make it through the approval process, and have enough money to cover the bill.
What those angels told us at Christmas, however, was that anyone can come to God. You don’t need to meet certain qualifications or undergo an approval process–God approved of you long before you applied!
You can experience the peace and approval of grace. Join the shepherds and wise men. Accept God’s grace, experience His favor and receive His peace.
Prayer: Lord, I praise You for the Prince of Peace. I welcome Your grace and receive Your complete peace. May I bring harmony in my relationships, and experience the blessing of wholeness in every area of my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
