"I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.”
John 17:4 (NIV)
What's the most common question people want to ask God?
According to a USA Today survey, it's this: "Why am I here on earth?" I often wonder what the answer is to this question, too. It's a question that can keep you up at night. You look around and wonder if your life really matters, if you're making any real difference.
It sometimes takes me a while to remember the beautiful truth that God doesn’t keep us guessing. You were born to glorify God. This isn't just a nice idea—it's your actual purpose, and it transforms everything.
Jesus shows us what this looks like. He said his mission was to glorify his Father (John 17:4). Everything Jesus did, from His life, teaching, miracles, and even his death on the cross, was to show the world how amazing God is.
Your life has the same purpose. Whether you're working, eating dinner, or talking with friends, you can bring glory to God. How? By showing others his love, kindness, and faithfulness through your actions.
This means your life has incredible meaning. Every day matters. Every conversation counts. Every choice you make can point people toward God's goodness.
When you live to glorify God, he promises to use your life in ways that matter eternally. Your ordinary moments become extraordinary when they're lived for his glory. You don't have to wonder if your life has purpose—it absolutely does.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving my life such clear purpose. Help me glorify you today in everything I do—big and small. Use my life to show others how good you are. In Jesus' name, Amen.
