“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
Acts 13:47 (NIV)
Have you ever felt like your daily routine doesn't matter in God's big picture?
When President Reagan was recovering from his assassination attempt, an aide found him on his hands and knees wiping water from the hospital floor. When asked what he was doing, Reagan explained, "I was worried my nurse might get in trouble." Here was the leader of the free world, concerned about a simple act of service even in his weakest moment.
This captures the heart of what it means to be sent by Jesus. You are not just saved—you are sent. Jesus prayed in John 17:18, "As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world." (NIV) Whether you're a construction worker, teacher, or stay-at-home parent, you carry the same mission: to be light in a dark world.
The first words God ever spoke were "Let there be light." Your message is the same. You are both a recipient and carrier of God's light. Every conversation, every act of kindness, every moment of integrity becomes an opportunity to shine Christ's light into the darkness around you.
Your calling isn't just to attend church—it's to be the church wherever you go. God doesn't need you to be impressive, eloquent or educated. He needs you to be available. From your neighborhood to the nations, God wants to use your life to bring His salvation to people who desperately need hope.
Where will you let your light shine today?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for saving me so that You could send me into the world with the message of Jesus. There is no higher calling and no greater purpose in my life than being a light to those who so desperately need to know You. Forgive me for the times that I forget my true calling as Your disciple. Renew my passion to be the light in my home, neighborhood and to the ends of the earth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
