“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Have you ever wished you had more faith?
In "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," the brave explorer faces a seemingly impossible situation. His father is dying, and to save him, Indiana has to cross a bottomless chasm with a bridge he cannot see. The ancient clue tells him it requires "a leap of faith." Standing at the edge, he closes his eyes and steps forward into nothingness—and discovers an invisible bridge, there all along.
Faith isn't manufactured through willpower. It's trusting God when everything visible shouts at you to believe otherwise. Abraham demonstrated this when he raised the knife over Isaac. Daniel showed it entering the lions' den. The centurion displayed it, believing his servant was healed on Jesus's word alone.
Jesus affirmed the value of unseen faith when He told Thomas, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" (John 20:29, NIV). God is glorified when you trust Him wholeheartedly with nothing else to go on except His character and promises.
What leap of faith is God asking of you today? Whatever it is, remember that God honors those who trust Him—taking a leap of faith.
Prayer: Father, thank You for being trustworthy—I know when I take a leap of faith, You are right there, waiting to catch me. Help me have the confidence to believe You even when evidence causes doubt. I put my faith in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
